  • Abstract
A new concept Geographic Interest Square was put forward towards thinking methods, mathematical methods and technical mechanism of geographic study. The abbreviation of Geographic Interest Square is GIS, just like Geographic Information System, but is a new wine in an old bottle. Traditional Geographic Information System has two problems: the accuracy and spatial analysis problem. The western thinking method, called Reduction is the ultimate cause. Based on the new cartographic tetrahedron theory, the theory of Geographic Interest Square was explored. An easy realized method was presented towards the study of global, everybody contained geographic content. Finally the accuracy of Geographic Interest Square was analyzed. Chinese traditional Integrated thought and “Grid Map” could be new guiding ideology to set up a new Geographic Information System, and Geographic Interest Square was a step forward.
