Abstract :
In this paper, modified beta distribution of the second kind is used to characterize the fraction of base station power allocated to a mobile station in a power-controlled CDMA system. Power control error is incorporated in this model. Outage probability can be calculated using the incomplete beta function and system capacity can be obtained using a simple integral. The effects of the power control error and the maximum fraction of base station power allocated to the mobile station on the outage probability and system capacity are discussed. The analytical model in this paper can be used to evaluate system performance of a power-controlled CDMA system more accurately and effectively.
