Abstract
The authors evaluate the electrical flashover strength of various insulator strings on 500-1200 kV lines, when replacing defective insulators by the live-line maintenance method, to ensure that the lineman will not be subjected to a flashover. Electrical testing of various insulator strings with defective insulators in different positions were carried out at an outdoor high-voltage facility. This paper presents the results of these studies
