The author addresses the emerging Electric Industries Association standard for commercial building wiring. He describes the scope and aims of the standard, provides an overview of the proposed wiring system, and gives details on the key issues of topology, distances, media and connectors. It is concluded that the most significant achievement of this standard is the selection of a single multimode fiber size
