  • Abstract
The design of feedback compensation networks for SMPS (switch-mode power supplies) is characterized by multiple and competing objectives. Based on computer models of SMPS, a new approach to optimizing these objectives has been developed. The optimization is done through automated simulations of the small-signal (frequency-response) and large-signal (transient-response) characteristics of the feedback loop and repeated evaluations of the closed-loop performance. The automated design process enables all control-dependent specifications to be met in a precise and efficient manner. An example of a Cuk switching regulator is used to illustrate the design method
