Abstract
Certain AC sources and line conditioners are not compatible with all power factor corrected (PFC) power supplies. The resulting combination can lead to system instability and cause complete loss of power control. The mathematical models of different types of AC sources and of a typical PFC power supply are presented and the interaction between them is described both qualitatively and in terms of stability requirements. Examples of unstable systems are shown and solutions to the stability problem from both ends of the power cord are discussed
