Abstract
Magnetic powder brake is often taken as a functional element in strip unwinding tension control system. In view of the wide range variations of web radius and line transport velocity in strip unwinding process, as a rule, the strip tension control system is terribly disturbed by the abovementioned variations during unwinding process. To make the tension control system more robust, this paper has proposed a kind of intelligent varistructural adjustment method of auto-adapted compensation for change in web radius, and the feed-forward compensation for the change in velocity rate in the intelligent tension controller. In addition, the tension controller sends another output signal in "S shape" cosine curve as the set point to the control system line transport velocity. This paper has shown the results of simulation for the control system and its application, and has also introduced the scheme for achievement based on DSP of TMS320LF2407A as the core technology. This system has been successfully applied to a plastic film slitting machine.
