Abstract
The guiding properties of microstructure fibres, which comprise more than one core, are considered. Such fibres could be used in numerous applications, including bend sensors, fibre couplers, etc. We analyse the interaction of the modes propagating in different cores in dependence on fibre structure, core separation and radius of the fibre bend. Mode field distribution, confinement loss and radiation loss arising from the bend in multi-core microstructure fibres also have been considered.
