Abstract :
Classically, channel delay profiles are simplified in order to make simulations easier, so that the effect of bandlimiting filters is not taken into account. Here, we provide a careful analysis of the consequences of this simplification, and compare the deterministic and ergodic capacities, as well as outage probability in the original and simplified cases. It is shown that such simplifications should be used with great care, since, for example, the outage capacity can be somewhat different in both cases.
