Abstract :
Nonreciprocal devices based on the section of two coupled lines containing ferrite magnetized in the propagation direction are investigated using the coupled mode method. It is found that the gyromagnetic medium causes coupling between even and odd modes supported by the isotropic structure and the energy of the wave is periodically transferred from one mode to the other which in turn results in the exchange of energy between guides. Full explanation of the action of experimental devices constructed by other researchers is proposed and substantiated by the numerical investigation of simplified models under non ideal operating conditions.
