Abstract
The use of real-time delay-sensitive applications in WLAN systems has increased significantly during the last years. Therefore, the demand to guarantee certain Quality of Service (QoS) for such wireless applications is a challenging issue for the systempsilas designers. A cross-layer based dynamic queue length scheduler, for downlink WLAN systems with heterogeneous traffic, is presented in this paper. A maximum throughput scheduling algorithm is applied within the queue, while users from higher priority traffic classes are prioritized. A trade-off is obtained between the system throughput maximization and the guarantees of the userspsila QoS delay requirements, where the system queue length is dynamically adjusted to select the most appropriate point in the trade-off.
