Abstract :
In this paper, we discuss the problem of transmitting bursty, delay-sensitive data over time-varying channels is an important issue in next-generation wireless networks. There is a fundamental tradeoff of conserving a mobile user´s energy while providing a desired level of quality of service. We present the first known results in this context for fading channels with infinite bandwidth and investigate the tradeoff between average packet delay and average power consumption.
