Experimental Verification of the Discontinuity Effects in Comb-Line Filters

With reference to comb-line filters composed of circular rods between ground planes, shunted by open-circuited sections of coax-lines, the values of the ground and mutual discontinuity-capacitances are reported for a wide range of normalized dimensions. The resulting model is able to explain the deviations often observed between the theoretical and the measured frequency-response of comb-filters, as verified experimentally under limit conditions.
