Abstract :
A scale inhibiting copolymer MMA-MA-AM has been synthesized with methyl methacrylate (MMA), maleic anhydride (MA), acrylamide(AM) as monomers and ammonium persulfate as initiator. Its performance as an inhibitor of calcium phosphate scaling has been investigated by static-state method. The results showed that MMA-MA-AM performed well in anti calcium phosphate scaling and in dispersing iron trioxide . Inhibiting efficiency was above 90% when copolymer dosage was 30 mg/L, and increasing such factors as temperature, calcium ion concentration, phosphate ion, pH and time would decreased the inhibiting efficiency.
