Abstract :
With the rapid process of urbanization, how to make use of the limited space to guarantee the sustainable development of city has become an urgent problem, "compact city" as an strategy of city spatial development, is mainly used to control urban overspreading and achieve sustainable development. The paper puts forward the concept of "compact cell" in drawing lessons from the foundation of "compact city"; and then it applies the concept to optimize the interior and exterior spatial structure of the urban-rural morphology based on the "compact cell"; at last, the paper provides some strategies such as urban UGB management, unit management, TOD and so on, in order to inquire the possibility of "compact cell" in the fulfillment.
