  • Abstract
Business organizations are deriving their greatest gains from being able to get their products to market faster than their competitors. As such, there has been a tremendous shift towards the use of IT techniques in the technical infrastructure, the globalization of socio-economic policies, and the future vision of these organizations. There are many factors which affect the full-scale deployment of IT in organizations, as it will not only make significant fundamental changes in the technical infrastructure, but the reliability and quality of the products, customer service and satisfaction also have to be dealt with. This is due to the fact that as industrial society moves from a low-wage economy to a highly educated society, expectations also grow. In this paper, we examine some of these issues by considering a few case studies. We demonstrate that, although IT is a very important step in the establishment of technical infrastructure for the future growth of business organizations, it requires certain guidelines to be formulated for defining measurement tools, quantitative measures, etc. for measuring productivity; and at the same time it must enhance reliability and, more importantly, customer satisfaction
