Abstract
Rare earths promoted nickel-based catalysts were synthesized via an impregnate method. The catalytic performances of the as-prepared catalyst for ethanol steam reforming were evaluated by a reforming system. It is found that rare earth promoters can help increasing H2 yield, CO2 selectivity, and ethanol conversion, as well as decreasing CH4 selectivity. Among all the rare earths promoted catalysts, the CeO2 promoted one shows the highest H2 yield over 4.7. Additionally, it is proved that pre-deoxidization of the catalysts can benefit for the ethanol steam reforming reaction, and carbon deposit can be suppressed at higher pre-deoxidization temperature.
