Abstract
Worldwide, the population of elderly people grows absolutely and in relation to the overall population. This means that more and more consumers will be over 60 years of age in the near future. Independent living is probably something most people have taken for granted during most of their life. As people become older though, independent living can present more of a challenge. Thus, the provision of in-home services will assist aged people in carrying out their daily tasks. In this paper, the personalized framework of the INHOME project is presented, which aims to provide the means for improving the quality of life of elderly people at home, by developing generic technologies for managing their domestic ambient environment.
