Abstract :
The design and performance (with emphasis on the RF section) of a Mobile Communications Receiver, capable of receiving data at a rate of 1200 bits per second directly from a standard C-Band. Satellite (4 GHz) are described. The Bit Error Rate of this receiver is better than 10¿5. This performance is achieved with an antenna aperture of only five inches (12.5 cm) diameter using spread Spectrum Transmission Technology. The received data can be displayed on an accompanying display unit and/or routed to an external printer via a standard RS 232C port. Various control functions are provided so that remote control is possible in unattended situations.
