  • Abstract
This paper demonstrates a novel method to evaluate the reflection behavior of a waveguide mode at an arbitrary reflective geometry by a time harmonic simulation based on the finite element method (FEM). In the FEM model, we insert a damping mechanism at the acoustic input port. This facilitates the evaluation of the scattering behavior in the frequency domain. Our approach supersedes the time consumption and calculation power necessary for the time to frequency domain conversion. We check validity of this approach and demonstrate its effectiveness for the evaluation of the scattering behavior at the free boundary of a plate and a stepped waveguide.
