Abstract
Wireless LAN testing was carried out jointly with Google in Mountain View California in early 2008. Testing demonstrated that signals appearing at receivers can have widely varied polarizations, thus there is a significant advantage in using polarization diversity for receiver SIR improvements. Both infrastructure (uplink) and client (downlink) devices realize SIR improvements of greater than 6 dB for this simple Switched Polarization Diversity testing while additional gains are expected for Adaptive Polarization Arrays.
