Abstract :
The properties of oil/polymer composite insulators have been investigated with TSC (thermally stimulated current) techniques. An oil/PPs/oil composite insulator with biaxially stretched polypropylene (PP) film sputtered in oxygen showed four TSC peaks originating from carriers captured in the swollen surface region of the PP. The TSC spectra of oil/PPs/oil did not change with impregnating temperature, unlike oil/PP/oil. The analysis gave information on carrier traps existing near the PPs surface in the oil/PP interface region. The relationship among the swelling, tan δ and trapping of the PPs impregnated with oil was also studied
