Abstract
Digital storytelling has been proposed for reflective practice and hence to improve learning in communities of learners. However, it is not clear if storytelling can have an impact on specific learning outcomes in higher education. In this paper we present a case study of digital storytelling in a civil engineering laboratory and assess the impact of storytelling on course outcomes. The primary result of the study is that although students perceive that they are learning better, storytelling does not seem to have any direct correlation with performance on learning outcomes in this higher educational context.
