To explore the growth law of self-organized central Changde, the integrations of central Changde in 4 typical years during 1981-2009 were computed by virtue of space syntax technology. Based on the analysis of the static and dynamic characteristics of those global integrators, the spatial changes, direction and rate of growth and other characteristics of urban central hidden in the integrator changes are studied. It is proposed that the next revision of Changde Master Plan adapt to the center-bias growth tendency of the urban central to maximize the efficiency of urban space structure and minimize the cost of urban growth, and shift urban growth mode from the simple concentric to the axial growth, so as to restructure its urban space effectively and achieve an urban growth balance.
