  • Abstract
During implementation of a maintenance program that was intended to check compliance of field grounding devices with ASTM F855, field personnel questioned the adequacy of grounding accessories used on underground cable systems. This resulted in a check of how ASTM 855 might apply to underground systems, particularly for devices designed to mate with the IEEE 386 interface. Some conflicts between the two standards were identified that raised questions about the applicability of each standard and how these requirements might be interpreted in a regulatory perspective
