  • Abstract
    In this paper, a data-aided carrier frequency offset estimation algorithm with iterative structure for burst-mode phase shift keying (PSK) transmissions is proposed. Inspired by the work of Fiz, L&R, and the M&M approaches, the algorithm is based on the use of the autocorrelation-based frequency estimator and iterative eliminate the incorrect false frequency estimation caused by the modulo operation. Compared with the M&M estimation algorithm, it yields a comparable estimation performance with lower complexity. Simulation shows that the algorithm has a large frequency estimation range, about plusmn 40% of the symbol rate, and its accuracy is close to the Cramer-Rao bound for a signal-to-noise ratio as low as -3 dB.
