The groundwater is the main water resources of the industry, agriculture and drinking water in the Northwest China, with the development of the economy and society in Northwest China, the polluting hazard to the phreatic aquifer is becoming much serious, the protection and preservation of groundwater resources are compulsory, particularly in the arid semiarid region like the Northwest China. This article studies the characteristics of the groundwater construction and produces groundwater vulnerability and risk maps for Yinchuan plain by DRASTIC mode. The data that correspond to the 7 impact factors of the model from the field investigation and the test, the result of vulnerability assessment is reasonable compared to the practice. There are 3 zones that are identified: moderate, high and very high, the result provides the real theoretical basis for the strategy in risk assessment of preventing contamination of phreatic aquifer in Yinchuan Plain.
