Abstract
Upstream and mid-stream of the Huaihe River in China is a complex system of reservoirs and rivers, and is a difficult area for flood prediction and reservoir scheduling. It is very difficult for sequential computing to obtain optimal reservoir cluster scheduling due to the fact that there are supercomputing problems in this domain. So far, no report has been made of the fact that optimal reservoir cluster scheduling may be obtained by using parallel and distributed computing (PDC). This paper proposes a method to solve these problems on the Huaihe River by utilizing high performance computing based on PDC to surpass this obstacle. Consequently, the accuracy of flood control scheduling could be improved and the decision time could be reduced considerably on the DAWNING-1000 parallel computer.
