Abstract :
This paper introduces the scheme for a new, experimental network management system (NMS) of the PSTN in the future. By combining the intelligent network concept and ATM technology, which have been studied separately so far, this scheme focuses on making the PSTN a self-healing network with high reliability and utilization ratio under the supporting environment of B-ISDN, and provides a smooth transition from PSTN to B-ISDN. It discusses the flaw and restrictions of conventional intelligent network implementation and offers this scheme as a breakthrough
