Abstract :
As a result of research and elaboration of airborne radar methods of sea roughness characterisation, the choice of optimum spatial selection methods of signal backscattered from sea surface, worked out antenna diagram optimum location recommendation for decrease of observation time and list-tangage instability influence. Three modes of sea surface wind vector and speed estimation were studied by means of reflected signal intensity: circle track flight with one-beam fixed position antenna, rectilinear track flight with rotating antenna, rectilinear track flight with three and four fixed antennas. Sea surface wind vector and speed measuring algorithms based on empirical backscatter models were worked out
