Abstract :
A novel and computationally efficient method for design optimization of microwave structures is introduced. The presented technique combines space mapping, used as the optimization engine, and kriging methodology, used to create fast surrogate model of the microwave structure being optimized. The kriging model is set up using data from the coarse-mesh EM model evaluated by the same electromagnetic simulator as the original structure. The new technique is demonstrated to yield a satisfactory design after a few EM simulations of the original structure with no equivalent-circuit-based coarse model necessary.
