Abstract :
Power Distribution System has a variety of problems like nonavailability of proper location as well as details about the Transmission Lines, Poles and Transformer. By Consumer Indexing (CI) we can find exact location of the consumer through which feeder, or transformer, or circuit number and or pole consumer is being supplied. The Remote Sensing, GIS and GPS Techniques can provide an efficient tool for the management and analysis of Power Distribution System related tasks. In CI by the use of GIS can effectively manage information on the distribution of electricity to consumers and information describing the attributes of each consumer such as location, consumption pattern, particular consumer connected at which Transformer, Feeder, Pole, or Circuit number. In Distribution Sector GIS has become more popular because of a number of advantages are implementing in Electricity Sector, especially with the advancement in modern management systems and automation, and the introduction of the digital utility. In this paper consumer related data base like its Feeder number, Transformer number, Circuit number, Pole number, meter type, phase, billing amount, and consumer´s location in the form of Easting & Northing have been put in Attribute table in GIS using ArcGIS9.1 Software. Every consumer´s location has been mapped using GPS and high resolution remote sensing satellite images. Different type of analysis like finding a pole or transformer of specific consumer is being supplied, using GIS tools.
