Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. Acetylene (C/sub 2/H/sub 2/) plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII) into polyurethane (PU) films was performed with different processing times of from 8 to 40 minutes. The surface properties were characterized by means of contact angle measurement, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The blood compatibility of the modified PU films was studied by platelet adhesion tests. The results showed significant difference for the behavior of platelet adhesion between different PU films.
