Abstract
We examine several advanced modulation formats in 40-Gbit/s long-haul transmission networks requiring OADM nodes to achieve network flexibility. Specifically, experimental results are discussed for systems with channels on a 50-GHz grid for both intensity encoded and phase encoded formats.
