Abstract :
We consider the idea of rate-adaptive multiple-sub-carrier-based transmission in order to achieve broadband communication between fixed access point and mobile user terminal in indoor non-directed infrared wireless system. We discuss the choice for realistic system parameters and issues influencing them. In order to maximize system throughput, by means of simulations, we investigate and compare performances of straightforward bit allocation based on the optimal power distribution, as well as Hughes-Hartogs bit-loading algorithm.
