Abstract
We experimentally demonstrated a novel radio-over-fiber (ROF) architecture. In this architecture, two lightwaves were generated by using optical carrier suppression. Only one lightwave carried differential phase-shift-keying (DPSK) modulation downstream signals, and another lightwave carried the upstream OOK signal after it was delivered to the base station. The experiment results show 0.5 dB power penalty for 2.5Gibt/s DPSK downlink signal and penalty free for 2.5Gbit/s uplink data after 20 km fiber transmission.
