Abstract
This paper describes an intelligent Load Shedding (LS) mechanism that aspires to maintain the power system frequency within the regulated limits. First, the system´s parameters and time constants are identified through an online learning scheme using the actual measurement of the frequency. Then, the system is adaptively controlled based on these identified parameters, providing the amount of load that should be shed in a distributed and selective manner, in order to maintain the frequency stability of the system.
