Spatial variations of pH value in three horizontal soils in Guangdong, China, were surveyed and analyzed using geostatisitic and GIS. A total of 260 soil profiles data followed an approximately lognormal distribution. The pH value geometric mean of 5.12 in surface soils is lower than that in global soils with higher acidity. From A- to C-horizon pH value geometric mean had an increasing tendency of 5.12, 5.24 to 5.37. The ordinary kriging estimates of pH value were mapped. It showed higher local pH value in faults and basins area and in Pearl River Delta. The pH value distribution was mainly dependent on anthropogenic inputs and bedrock properties. The results reveal that about 67.3% of total surveyed area was lower than 5.0.
