Abstract
In WCDMA systems, which introduce multimedia services, the demand for good indoor coverage is very important. Implementing repeaters can provide a sufficient level of general indoor coverage. However, in order to be able to provide WCDMA indoor coverage within traffic hot spots, such as office buildings, the deployment of dedicated in-building systems is required. In this paper, the implementation of 2W two channels 3G indoor repeater is studied. The result of the actual coverage measurement with and without repeater, in typical building in Malaysia is presented. A propagation test and measurement, and theoretical calculation are conducted. It proved that adding repeater into the network enhances the performance of the 3G services in the building. Result of the different values between measured and calculated signals are compared and analyzed. Problems arise due to installing and adapting an in-building repeater in 3G network is also investigated
