Abstract :
This paper presents the stability-improvement results of a PMSG-based offshore wind farm (OWF) fed to a synchronous generator (SG) based power system using a static synchronous series compensator (SSSC). A fuzzy-logic damping controller (FLC) of the proposed SSSC is designed to render adequate damping characteristics to the studied SG. A timedomain scheme based on a nonlinear system model subject to different disturbance conditions is performed. It can be concluded from the simulation results that the proposed SSSC joined with the designed FLC can offer adequate damping performance to the studied SG-based power system with a PMSG-based OWF under various disturbances.
