Abstract
Any vocal tract model for speech synthesis tries to consider viscous losses in the vocal tract in order to yield natural synthesized sound. In the present work a fluid flow approach is used to compute these losses. The boundary layer assumption helps to approximate the complete flow equations to a simple ordinary differential equation and the reflection-type line analog scattering equations.<>
