Abstract
Fracturing rigid body has been one of the hotspots and the difficulties in the field of computer graphics in recent years. The common used finite element analysis always needs complex physical calculations, thus it cannot meet the real-time requirement of game and simulation. In this paper, a novel Voronoi diagram based fracturing rigid body simulation approach is proposed, which gets a result with strong physical reality in real time, by using the pre-fracture technology. First, the seed points fitting well of the normal distribution are obtained by the analysis of fracturing progress of rigid body, and the Voronoi polygons are generated through the off-line incremental algorithm and Graham Convex Hull algorithm. Then, following the energy conservation equation and mechanical analysis, the radius of the fracture area and the crack area are ascertained, and the velocities of fragments are derived in accordance with the restriction of collision energy conversion. At last, the collision detection is realized and the velocity, attitude, etc. of the fragments are calculated. Experimental results show that this method can meet the real-time requirements of games and the interactive simulation, while the generation and movement of fragments consistent with the true physical laws, having a strong sense of reality.
