Abstract :
The subject “streaming in education” raises exciting questions, which are addressed by the FNMA\´s working group “Streaming Technology and Learning Innovation”. It deals with the implementation process of recording and providing courses as streaming media at universities. The focus reaches from the stage of planning, implementation, and operation (including the connection to established IT-services) right up to the organisational and didactical integration into university courses and the support by central facilities. As an additional value for the e-learning community, the working group pursues two goals: Firstly, the reinforcement of the networking contacts and the exchange between institutions through on-topic meetings - the result is an enhanced interconnection through real and virtual meetings of the working group. Secondly, the working group compiles the resources as a "treasure trove of experience" of the community. The result is the documentation of the working group\´s findings in form of an analysis of the current state on the different application scenarios all over Austria. To launch a process of benchmarking by comparing the different settings, being oriented by a common technological outline, might be one of the synergy effects the survey will entail. The following article is thus structured into three parts: firstly, an introduction and presentation of the working group, secondly, a comparative overview on the different solutions, and thirdly, recommendations and lessons learned in order to serve as a future outline.
