Abstract
A digital joint estimator for carrier phase, code timing, and data sequence of spread spectrum communication system is proposed. The proposed scheme is derived from the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) theorem and is an extension of the sample-correlate-choose-largest (SCCL) algorithm. The scheme is a two-dimensional SCCL algorithm which estimates both the carrier phase and code timing recursively. Both the simulations and analytical results are presented and we show that the scheme is effective in additive Gaussian noise channel
