Abstract
A flexible filter based on the principle of guided mode resonances is demonstrated, operating in the visible part of the spectrum. The filter consists of a subwavelength gold grating on top of a polymer waveguide which can be arranged to be free standing. We show the versatility of the approach by being able to produce different kinds of filter by changing the geometrical parameters. We then exploit the unique properties of our filter by wrapping it round the end of a collimated fibre output and show successful filtering.
