Abstract :
The European Union funded project DAPHNE (Developing aircraft photonic networks) has investigated the design of single mode fibre networks for aircraft that can carry a wide range of signal types including high speed digital data, wide bandwidth rf signals and analogue signals from structural sensors. We demonstrate the functionality of the network with signals passing through wavelength multiplexers, connectors, branching units, switches and rotary joints that operate to avionic specifications.
