Abstract :
In this paper, we propose an environment modeling method using an omni-directional vision. sensor (ODVS). In this method. the environment is memorized using the ODVS which is mounted on a vehicle. A Global Positioning System (GPS) is used in order to measure the position of the vehicle. By combining the ODVS with the accurate GPS, high speed model acquisition can be realized. Moreover, in our method, we apply a Fourier transform to the obtained image in order to reduce memory capacity. We have experimented outdoors in order to verify the effectiveness of this method
