Abstract :
In this paper a Counter-Rotating Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (CR-PMSM) is designed and considered. The main different of CR-PMSM with traditional ones is in the way that the both rotor and armature are rotating in opposite direction. This kind of motor is very efficient and suitable for underwater propulsion applications. A speed adjusting controller based on the Vector Control Theory is applied to drive CR-PMSM. The mathematical model of CR-PMSM according to the ordinary PMSM and its operation principle is established. For investigation, entire system drive including CR-PMSM model, space vector pulse width modulation (SV-PWM) and vector control are simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. After that, the control system is executed on TMS320F2812 controller platform and applied for constructed CR-PMSM. The simulation and experimental results show prominent rule of vector control strategy in speed tracking for CR-PMSM.
