Abstract
Design techniques for sub-optimal multiuser detectors for multichannel communication over optically amplified fiber optic links with square-law receivers are investigated. A new regression based technique is proposed for designing affine and quadratic multiuser detectors. The proposed techniques are compared to high-complexity asymptotically optimal (AO) detectors and two standard low-complexity techniques, viz. single user detection (SUD) and affine minimum mean square error (AMMSE) detection. Benefits of the proposed design technique over SUD and AMMSE based techniques are demonstrated using typical two user systems.
