Abstract :
Due to the link characteristics of wireless channel, the performance of TCP will decrease in VVLAN networks. In this paper, the adaptable parameter of 802.11 MAC-Layer is analyzed and the importance of the TCP control segment in transmission flow is discussed. Then a MAC-layer adaptation algorithm based on TCP control segment is proposed. The scheme can enhance the throughput capacity of TCP control segment in the wireless channel and improve the transmission reliability of TCP control segment, when there are access conflict and congestion in the wireless channel. So the transmission efficiency and reliability of TCP segments can be enhanced too. The evaluation result of the proposed scheme shows that the important gain in performance was obtained compared with that of traditional 802.11 MAC-Layer.
